Created to alleviate the hardships of living with limited reach and mobility, the FreedomWand offers a feature-rich and flexible design in a compact, easy-to-use package. According to Deborah Tacoma, President and Founder of Freedom Creators, Inc. and inventor of the FreedomWand, she cared for her father at home for 10 months before admitting him to a care facility as his dementia progressed. She had not yet shown her father the aids that could help him in his everyday life, and by that time, it was too late – he could no longer learn how to use them. Deborah has taken this learning experience to heart, and in developing the FreedomWand hopes to provide patients and caregivers with a preventative measure; a hygiene aid that instills independence and dignity in those who require a little extra help with their daily activities. Her advice is for caregivers to give their loved ones the tools they need sooner rather than later, so that those habits will make for a more natural, comfortable transition later on.
